“IL TREMENDO ZORNO DEL DODEZE”

On Saturday 13 May Jesolo celebrates the commemoration of the 'Zorno Tremendo', or the fall of the Venetian Republic, a dramatic and painful event that had enormous historical repercussions.
On 12 May 1797 - the 'Zorno Tremendo del Dodeze' - the Serenissima, following a hasty vote in the Maggior Consiglio, decided to disappear from history.
At 5.00 p.m. the parade of the Reggimento Veneto Real (figures in 18th-century Venetian military uniforms) starts from Jesolo City Hall and arrives in Piazza Primo Maggio.
Piazza Primo Maggio also hosts a conference on the history of Venice (from 7 to 8 p.m.) with speakers Giampaolo Borsetto and Danilo Morello.
The event is free and open to the public.
